Biography

Dr. O.L. Shanmugasundaram is a Professor in the Department of Textile Technology at K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology, India. He completed his Diploma in Textile Processing in the year 1996 from Erode Institute of Technology, India. He graduated in B.Tech. Textile Technology from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, India in the year 2000. He aced the GATE Examination with 83.21 percentile [All India Rank: 93] in the year 2003. His tenure of service for 12 years in K.S.Rangasamy College of Technology and 2 years in SSM College of Engineering has honed his skills in teaching, research and administration [Autonomous In-charge, NBA coordinator, NAAC coordinator, ISO coordinator, etc]. He serves as an editorial board member and reviewer in many refereed journals including Elsevier and Springer Journals and is also acting as organizing committee member and scientific committee member in 100 International and 60 National Conferences in India and abroad.

Research Interest

He disseminated his research results through regular publications in scholarly and peer reviewed Journals. He has authored 32 research papers in reputed journals. He has to his credit 25 papers presented in International Conferences and 7 others in National Conferences. His research interests span a hybrid platform of theoretical and experimental approaches to study the diverse applications of Nanotechnology in Textiles, Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Bio-Medical Textiles, Textile Chemical Processing, Technical Textiles and Fibre Science & Technology. His current research activities focus on Healthcare and Hygiene Textiles, synthesis of nanoparticles/polymers and its applications in wound dressings and tissue engineering, development of drug releasing sutures motivated by the emerging challenges in the fields of medical and sports textile technology.
