Biography

Dr. Sunirmal Jana did his Master of Science degree in Chemistry in the year 1991 from Kalyani University, India and obtained his Ph.D. (Science) degree in 1998 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He also completed “Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) organized “Leadership Development Programme (LDP 0905)” for middle to senior level leaders” by CSIR HRDC, Gaziabad, India. In December 1997, Dr. Jana joined CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute (CSIR-CGCRI), Kolkata, India as a Junior Scientist. Presently, he is working as a Principal Scientist of CSIR under Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India and Associate Professor of Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR) at the same Institute (CSIR-CGCRI). Dr. Jana is performing his duties as a course co-ordinator and also as a teacher for the course, “Structural and functional coatings”, of AcSIR. He is also working as Guest Professor for B. Tech. students of University of Calcutta, Kolkata on “Sol-gel materials” from 2016-2017 sessions. Dr Jana is actively involved / coordinated / performed as Principal Investigator (PI) / Co-PI of various national and international research projects. At present, he has published about 50 research papers (h-index, 10) in internationally reputed different SCI journals, above 72 conference abstracts, 6 Book Chapters and 3 Indian patents. Presently, he has already guided 3 Ph.D. (Science) students and also guiding 3 more PhD students. Moreover, he already guided 12 M.Tech/M.Sc/B. Tech. students for their projects as the partial fulfillment of their degrees and also guiding more students for their projects in M. Tech degrees. Dr. Jana is an elected member of the Council of Indian Ceramic Society for two successive terms (2015-2016 and 2017-2018) and one of the EC members of Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Kolkata Chapter, India. He is also the life members of Materials Research Society of India, Indian Ceramic Society, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and NCE Bengal & Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He is a senior member of International Engineering and Technology Institute (IETI), Hong Kong. Dr. Jana availed Brain Pool Fellowship from Korean Federation of Science & Technology Societies (KOFST) and worked at Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT), Daejeon, South Korea for one year during 2005-2006. He also did his research work as visiting scientists at different research Institutes in abroad (Slovenia and Portugal). Presently, Dr. Jana is functioning as one of the Editorial Board Members/Editors of Advances in Nanoparticles (Scientific Research Publishing), Kenkyu Journal of Nanotechnology and Nanoscience (Kenkyu Group, India), Scholars Report under Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (USA), Journal of Advanced Nanomaterials (Isaac Publishing Co. Ltd., Hong Kong) and Source Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (USA). He also delivered several invited talks in India and abroad in different conferences/ symposiums/ workshops/ seminars and also performed as Chairmen of several sessions. Dr. Jana also evaluated several PhD theses of many Indian Universities (e.g. Karunya University, Sastra University, Manonmaniam Sundaranar Univerisity, Periyar University). He also reviewed the research papers received from American Chemical Society (ACS), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Elsevier, Spingers, Transactions of the Indian Ceramic Society, African Journal of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Bulletin of Materials Science, IOP, SCIRP and also from others publishers/journals.
