Biography

Prof Dr Ramesh T Subramaniam is a material scientist experienced in preparation, development and characterization of polymer and polymer electrolytes as a source of energy for use in various electrochemical devices. The novelty of his research was the successful invention of highly adhesive polymer membranes, environmentally friendly polymer electrolytes and techniques in the fabrication of green electrochemical devices. The many international awards bestowed on Prof Dr S. Ramesh have opened new doors for his research through collaborations and consultation. He was selected as a ‘TWAS Young Affiliate Fellow’ in 2009 by The World Academy of Sciences - one of the five from the South & Southeast Asia and Pacific region. He also received the UTAR Annual Research Excellence Award in 2009. In 2010, he received the Pacifichem Young Scholar Award from the American Chemical Society and in 2011, the Young Scientist Award from IUPAC. In 2012, he received the IAP Young Scientist Award. In 2013, he was selected as a Young Scientist of the Global Young Academy (GYA). In 2014 he was selected as one of the Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM). In 2016 he was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) and in the same year, he received the “International Association of Advanced Materials Scientist Medal (IAAM Scientist medal) for the year 2016” from the International Association of Advanced Materials. He is also a good teacher. In 2015, he was awarded the “Student’s Favourite Professor/Lecturer” Award during Physics Colloquium 2015 in Faculty of Science. He has won awards in several innovation exhibitions such as ITEX, BioMalaysia, MTE and PECIPTA. He walked away with the BEST of the BEST Award during PECIPTA 2013 which gained him interviews in MHI, Galeri Nasional and several newspapers. He also won the “Best Award” during Malaysia Technology Expo 2016. His major contribution is through the service and knowledge as a Young Scientist of the Global Young Academy. He has contributed to the “Science 4 Youth” and “Global State of Young Scientists” Programmes which focuses on the development of science and technology among the youth of this world and to study the problems faced by mainly 3rd World countries on this issue.
